Expedition to Look for New Particles: Fundamental Physics at the Large Hadron Collider : A Report

- Bhakti Mithagri, MSc Part 1

The Society Of Physics (Sigma Phi) hosted an online lecture by Dr. Nishita Desai on the 15th of September 2021. Dr. Desai is a Ramanujan fellow currently posted in the Department of Theoretical Physics, TIFR, Mumbai. She is a particle physicist with a prime interest in studying Beyond the Standard Model (BSM). Her expertise lies in performing detailed simulations of collision events using Pythia 8 to determine predictions of new theories for experiments like ATLAS, and CMS at LHC and conversely, in using observed data from these experiments to restrict new theories. She completed her undergraduate (BSc) from Ferguson College, University of Pune, and her master’s from IIT Roorkee. She did her Ph.D. from Harishchandra Research Institute. Apart from different awards, Dr. Desai is also a
